The metallica descriptions really ring true for me. heafy should never have changed his vocal style. In my opinion Ascendancy was a good album but the crusades is something that is derivative in every sense. If i wanted to listen to good metalcore I would just shove on one of unearths CD's. Other than that i'll just go back to listening to COB.

I actually couldn't believe how much Matt has gone with the Metallica vibe, although I know its been said countless times now.

Do you think the rest of the band were against doing it, because this is going to ruin a band completely that had already lost a lot.

what?!?!?!? this album kicks a**. 10 out of the 13 tracks (save for the love song and The Rising) are awesome. im amazed that you would even call this thrash, as it is not even close. it is just head banging metalcore, and any fan of the genre should be happy to own this album. This album really disappointed me, especially with all the hype surrounding it. I can’t believe that Trivium is being heralded as “the future of metal.” This album couldn’t be further from that. All of it sounds like a rehashing of the old school metal. They aren’t bringing anything new to the scene.



I don’t hate the new vocals as much as most seem to do, but I thought they used them wrong. I would of liked to see a mix of all the different vocals they’ve used so far. They should of implemented that technique into their songwriting because that is what falters in my opinion. Everything seems so monotonous after the first song.

Other than the end of Detonation, this album is just boring to listen to. I guess I don't DISLIKE it, but I do not by any means enjoy listening to it either. If Matt Heafy would have used his clean singing voice more often, I would probably like this album quite a bit. To make things worse, Matt lyrics are enough to make me cringe. He is about on par with Fred Durst (Ok... maybe not THAT bad) here.

You'd think after 20 pages of posts we would all realize that the album is horrible, and that being said we should stop posting about it. I'd give this like a 1.5 (1 because they made an album, and .5 because it blows). So stop posting about how Trivium sucks!

Dude, I listen to The Misfits, Danzgi era. I know that you don't need virtuosity to rock.
But that doesn't excuse the banality that is Trivium.
