Ashes is infinitely worse than anything on the self titled, but I can see this being... arithmetically on par with that album. Rejoice and Statica are cool tracks, I wouldn't mind hearing more of this stoned MIDI funk from them.

Tbh this is just a few guitar leads, better drum fills, and less half assed vocal melodies away from being half decent and I swear to Christ that’s not even backhanded
Genuinely agree there’s something here that COULD be good, but this ain’t it. Like, I’m not at all against this sound, it’s something they very much flirted with on LIBAD, thing is those songs still had some of the pieces of what made me fall in love with this band in the first place.
More Easier and Ordinary, less Ashes. I honestly do like the title track.

"Statica" is a visceral artistic statement for the ages. The expertly mixed electronic hi-hats represent the several strokes of genius M. Shadows experienced as he recorded his vocal take, scratching against the soft polyurethane windscreen to extract every last inch of inspiration. The hammering one-note electric riff and midi trumpets highlight the intense bliss the spiritually ascended singer faces every day from chronically sound-maxing himself. Beautiful. Raw. Honest. High hopes for this album, slated to be an avant-garde masterpiece that'll age even more gracefully than Lulu.
