You were my harlequin bride, I was your undercover lover, but no
You never saw me naked, you wouldn't even touch me
Except if you were wasted
But you were trying your best, and that's the thing I tell the others
I was your robot companion, you were my favourite colour, and oh
🤦🏼‍♂️

Nothing you need an excuse for, homie. Knowing popular acronyms is not a virtue - haha.

I'm not even sure why i dont hate vessel when he literally does every single vocal thing I dislike wrapped into one package (the accent, the low-deep tone, hell even the pitch-shifting - the "go ahead and wrap your arms around me" clearly sounds artificially deepened)

Gdi man. Gethsemane was easily the best song so far (despite those awful lyrics) and I thought they were going to ride the high and just get bigger and bigger and they killed all the momentum and went back to their grating R&B/trap beat bull shit.
Fuck. They just can’t get out of their own way

Is there any lyrics here worse than "make a good girl bad"

Never was all that into these guys, but have enjoyed some songs of theirs & TPWBYT was a decent record. This one isn't terrible, but didn't capture me in any way except for Gethesmane, which melded quite a few cool ideas. Other tracks had their moments, like the Sax on Emergence, but plenty of songs had me looking at the clock. Just too glacial in it's pacing, each song feels very very slow building, & too focused on atmosphere, I can imagine someone saying "the vibes". I'm not huge on Vessel's style or lyrics, I do have a couple of goth / alt friends who are obsessed with him in a creepy parasocial-stalker-fangirl level way. It's been interesting seeing the lyrics about the fanbase, the desire to keep away from being doxxed, and such. The fanbase is a Swiftie / K-Pop Stan like fandom, and the haterdom is like prime Avenged Sevenfold hate, or the anti-BMTH brigade 2.0

I loved the first four minutes of Gethsemane and wanted a bigger payoff at the end. That beat is great.i feel like Dangerous could be one of those underrated tracks like The Apparition.

Has anyone considered the cultural implications of this album? Shortsighted of y’all if not.

At the minimum the band is a massive gateway to get new people interested in metal music. I've seen plenty of people get into Sleep Token, Bad Omens, Poppy, who go onto listening to other bands, then slowly exploring more and more. Going from something like this, then maybe they enjoy Vore, which introduces them to something heavier & go from there. As a youngun I first started off with Limp Bizkit in the late 90s, & only went from there into so many other styles.

I just think they make good music and do really fun stuff with the sound and production, I don't really take the lyrics too seriously.
I also haven't given them more than a once over. It isn't really what I like to listen to in my spare time, but everything sounds great.
The reactions and criticisms seem overblown.

I disagree with this being a gateway for people to get into metal. I’ve been listening to metal since I was 12. I’m 37 now. I just thoroughly enjoy Sleep Token and Bad Omens.

“ What’s with all the (previously) ghost user input itt? It’s like we’ve unearthed a secret batch from a basement somewhere and honestly I’m all for it”
Just an old man with kids more trying to keep up with new stuff and just not clicking with this band despite the hype.

Hey I say a few things sometimes. Blame the algorithm shilling content creators that got me to peep this previously literally who (to me) band.

I've been following for 15 years, I just haven't commented on, or rated anything in about as long - lol.
My wife loves Ghost - I'm mostly indifferent, but they sound pretty cool. It just isn't my preference.
I mostly came back to harass people about jazz music, but no one is biting.
