are we not calling a truce? i said i was done. leave it.
now, onto more positive things: two horses might be the best song i have heard from this band

Ya gotta recognize that this thread is a symptom of a much bigger issue. This is like the tenth thread in the last month where you've painted yourself as a victim to other people's (often not on this site) views

What are the big post punk bands that are still GOOD doing rn? Where are they at? Even Protomartyr fell off slightly.

Viagra Boys are loaded in the chamber. Bit more on the aggressive side, but sometimes they scratch the itch

yeah, and I'm honestly tired of the cycle. there was a lot of stuff that I earnestly enjoyed for years but the internet essentially told me it wasn't okay to like it. you'd think with everything being sensitive and pc according to media talking heads that people would just let others enjoy things but nah from what I've seen in the 2000s if you liked linkin park/mcr/a7x/anything "emo" you were "gay" and told to kill yourself and in the 2020s there are artists that inspire a similar reaction for similarly stupid reasons

viagra boys are a meme band, but bambara are still sounding p good (if not their best)
|
| |
what was that about media heads and things being PC? its hard to keep up with your edits
you're doing it again. i dont mean to shit on you thread after thread, and i genuinely do value your presence on this site. sincerely. but it is absolutely not healthy to live with this much paranoia about events that seem to have happened years ago.
no one on this site is out to get you, you just have your own self pity parade in every thread. i promise if you just chill out no one will mention your taste or tell you to kill yourself around here. that's the wonderful thing about sput. even hawks doesnt tell tundra to kill himself afaik.
edit: nvm lol rofl u brought it back

Didn't like the new record as much as I liked Stray, but it could also grow on me.
|

neither did i tbh, but the lyrics are well worth sinking a couple of passes over and have improved it for me considerably. can't think of anyone out there who does ghoulish character narratives and disjointed timelines q as well as they do

Cheers for the précis Odal.
Does seem a bit obsessive but there’s always more to these things.

lol drift i second guess my messages a lot bc i get too wordy and don't even really make sense to myself

@johnny: Hard agree. Dude's absolutely one of the best lyricists around rn. Great enough to give me pause because it doesn't seem like most bands in the current climate care much about artful lyrics. Somewhat Nick Cave-esque, very southern gothic inspired, but he absolutely has his own lens and style that I can't help but appreciate as an English major.

@Venin, YOU don't let yourself enjoy things.
You frequently fall into these cycles of self-pity and arguing with straw men, then don't like when people call you out for it. When you aren't doing this, you are a nice presence on this site. I want to believe you when you say that you're tired of this cycle, but you come to the same conclusion in each of the threads I've seen you do this in, and then keep doing it. PLEASE stop looking at comment sections and letting them dictate your life.
@Zak you can look deeper into the situation, but it's definitely pretty cut and dry. Dude was a colossal creep

imagine tying your personal enjoyment of something into other people's reactions though
makes me feel like you don't actually hold any genuine views or opinions and need validation before committing to having an individual personality or taste
no ones gonna tell me i can't enjoy generic kpop songs because if they do im gonna tell em to pound sand, so why the fuck do you even worry about shit like that, it's very mentally stuck at 14 behaviour. like what you like, call someone else an idiot or something more colourful for disagreeing, and own it. this whole delicate fragile thing you got going on is not cute babe.

@Million some might say they're not really a post-punk band (outside of their debut) but it's gotta be Geese. they're only 2 albums in but if they drop a third on par with the first 2 I'll say they're the best active band right now

@sint: that method has been ineffective for me in practice, every single time i tried people got angrier and i had no idea where to go from there - as for validation, most i can tell ya is that being treated as an inferior by my peers in my teens over small things made me unsure of myself

i don’t really care about people saying you victimize yourself or whatever cause you seem pretty nice at the end of the day and maybe that should count for more than it does on sputnikmusic.com

well whatever it is i had a long talk with some people and they agreed that it really shouldn't matter as long as i stay true to myself. and that self love comes from within/the need for external validation speaks to a self confidence issue. gotta work on that. anyways i'm listening to the new messa album, I'm quite liking it

Thanks Colton. I remember when the newest Geese record dropped and I meant to check it out but forgot along the way. Will need to rectify that soon.
