@peartnoy: shit that honestly might be it. that and bands like this using the exact same guitar tones as eachother.

There are definitely some obvious “lanes” of metalcore right now where bands sound the exact same as each other from a tone/mix standpoint

Perfect Soul is a grower. I didn't care for it all that much as a single but I like it more on each listen. Realised it'd grown when l realised I had been humming the chorus for hours

I didn't like it at first either (also the video is kind of lame) but it grew on me. Might be a top 10 SB

Bring back Matt Bayles or Adam D mixing every metalcore album I say.

Adam D would probably put gang shouts in this band's music

band don't need to do heavy songs anymore, they have Holly Roller and Cellar Door. I skip Black Rainbow every time.

Black Rainbow has Meshuggah vibes so I might have to agree with the onion man over here

But at the same time, I MUCH prefer Spiritbox when they are in their Secret Garden/Jaded/Perfect Soul mode rather than their Holy Roller/Cellar Door/Soft Spine mode (even though those are solid songs too)

I just think they're so fucking good at those clean choruses/hooks, it's one of the main draws for me - I have plenty of other bands that I go to for straight skull crushing heaviness

i dig the clean parts for sure i just already dont think theyre the best hook writers in a game that jesse cash is participating in anyway and that the heavier songs are essential to the flow of this. theyre never gonna make an album of full skull crushing heaviness anyway contrast is their whole bag
