Echoes, The Grey, Sirens, Burden could have easily been on Sonder, more too, this needed more songs like the title track, with those Altered State like grooves

I agree that this feels like a logical next step from Sonder (even has nods and references to the album) but that's not a bad thing. Sonder had their smartest songwriting, best vocal moments, and heaviest riffs. So I'm here for it.

Sonder and Polaris really delivered on big chorus/vocal moments and so songs like "Seven Names", "Mirror Image/ Beneath My Skin" seem to be more prevalent on this album imo. Riffs like the ones on "Juno" and "King" also are sonically similar to ones on "Echoes", "Legion", and "War of Being".

i think the heavier tracks are going for something punchier than juno and king which are kinda trying to be more slowed out b i g stomping numbers, and i think the slower songs here still feel more dynamic than the slow songs off sonder (polaris kind of a different game when sirens and the grey are here). think i can accept burden as the exception tho
this definitely isnt "just more sonder" tho. it ups the tempo quite a bit for this band, pulls from and elaborates off the debut of the first time since the debut, and weaves in the heavier sections pretty dynamically into like every song. big step forward

big tundra W here this was easily my favorite track/moment on this album made me feel so nostalgic trying and failing to learn nocture and proxy on the drums back in the day
