Definitely a great vibe album but I do not go back to this as much as the self titled album.

Nah, this has greater staying power already.
Problem is Slowdive have two all-time masterpieces to their name (of different flavours)
then S/T LP happened (not the EP because that's marvellous) and now I'm just grateful this is a borderline top 10 album for this year, lol

When Kisses was released it was met with lukewarm reaction, but damn if hasn't turned out to be the best song on one of the better releases of the year.

ngl not convinced that one's long term appeal even carried it the end of release week

I feel like it would have fit right into the Lost in Translation soundtrack - it's the tone, the mood...

Easy AOTY for me

Doing a relisten to all the decent albums this year and this is definitely the one that seems to have some long term staying power attached to it.
2023 was a bloody good year

2023 sucked music-wise imo, with very few new releases really resonating with me
but this is top 5 AOTY

Those PJ Harvey and Clientele albums were fantastic, good picks there
was very happy I could see The Clientele this year too
I feel like this album was overlooked by a lot of people, which is odd to say about one of the most beloved and critically acclaimed bands of the last 30 years

The 21st century digital musical soup mate.
Band has more of a following now than it ever did and yet it’s still just vapour.

How nicely put: slowdive as vapour of a soup. Love it!

Still a hard autumn 4

It was definitely a necessary change in sound for them, even if it wasn't a drastic one. Perfect autumnal listening.

I absolutely loved the new Clientele album and it is likely turning into my all time favorite records, it is packed with amazing melodies and moving lyrical themes and atmosphere, this though......... eh, and it is a shame, because I really wanted to get moved by a new Slowdive release, but there isn't one single memorable song in this, it's not bad in any way, but so... meh.
