Never been a huge fan of the last 4 albums, but they obviously all beat X Factor

Everything beats X Factor though!

There's nothing ridiculous about what I said.

'As an album A Matter of Life and Death even rivals their "classic" albums, mainly due to the consistency problems that a lot of the albums from the classic era suffered from.'
The early classic albums couldn't be more consistent from my standpoint and it's one of the reasons why they're the best heavy metal band of all time.

| |
But almost every one of them suffers from inconsistency, especially Piece of Mind and Powerslave.

Powerslave i will give you due to the fact that the double bookends are so good, but Piece Of Mind really only has one misstep
|
| |
It has like 4 "missteps" :/

Ok maybe just 3 but Die With Your Boots On, Quest for Fire and Sun and Steel are just bad songs whatever way I look at them.

for a minute there, i thought you included the semi-classic Die With Your Boots On!
*phew!

PoM may be a bit inconsistent but the only reason Powerslave is in this conversation is because the bookends are all classics. That's not a real reason for me. And with time I've come to love the album's middle section.
|
| |
Die With Your Boots On a "semi-classic"? lol really?
It's not just that for me, manosg, songs like Back in the Village are just generally weak in the song writing department.

Piece of Mind is the only inconsistent one from the 80s imo.
Every song on Powerslave is a metal anthem.
