Yeah, that whole song sounds suspiciously similar to Enter Sandman

Isn't the goal of this album? To retrace the 72 seasons of Metallica? I have a hard time finding And Justice For All though. It all sound a lot like modern Met except for a few song like Inamorata.

It's worse than Death Magnetic, but a bit better than Load/Reload

More boring but less bad than Re-Load in my opinion...

This is really fun, i'm leaning towards an even better rating rather than worse

I think the better songs were the singles that were released, with the addition of 1 or 2 more. I listened to this about 5X through so far, and find it most enjoyable if listening as two halves at separate times. I can probably only listen to it in its entirety if I'm doing a project around the house or at work. Not a bad album, but certainly not as good as Hardwired. Disc 1 of Hardwired trumps everything on here for me...

pretty much where i've fallen too except i think the singles are some of the lesser tracks here, with "if darkness had a son" probably being my least fave track

I agree with you about Darkness - it’s my least favorite out of the singles. Lux and 72 are probably my top 2 on here though.

And my goodness they need to retire the words ‘suicide’ and ‘misery’ from their lyrics. Enough already.

Darkness is a lot of fun, or it would be if it were trimmed down to 4 minutes. The chorus on the album yes

72 seasons is equal to 18 years, and no the title is about people’s first 18 years of their life and the importance of them in one’s development and not about the band specifically.

Thanks for the clarification Ghost!

The more I listen to this, the more fun it is. I guess I'm starting to hear Lars's underwhelming performance less and less...

A complete dearth of even semi decent riffs on this album, in spite of how long it is. Entire tracks are dedicated to guitar parts that would barely pass as mediocre bridge sections. The production/mastering is also a complete write off, but that’s to be expected from them at this point.
