I'm not saying I like or dislike the insane hype wave just that some niche forum on the internet isn't going to curb it lol this is so annoying and people wonder why i leave for months on end

The Beatles and other 60s bands sound dated and apart from Helter Skelter, not much of what I've heard sounded like any more than soft rock.

It's so funny how a simple take about Frontierer being exhausting devolved into a whole ass discussion about the merits of dated ass oldies music

"The Beatles and other 60s bands sound dated"

they are from the 60s yes it is a long time ago

"apart from Helter Skelter, not much of what I've heard sounded like any more than soft rock."

do yourself a favour and educate yourself in music styles and classification that don't involve braindead retroactive impositions of heaviness or lazyass armchair postulations about recording technology or dynamic range. take that sabbatical see ya next season nice one

Tbh prior to 1970 I've yet to find something that truly stuck with me. Early Sabbath is about as far back as I usually go, and 90s onward is where music really evolved in my eyes. Production values increased, more singers that didn't sound painfully normal came out, technology got better, songwriting got better and more emotion-evoking as the state of the world got worse and more people wanted to open up their hearts. I respect the older stuff more than I actually enjoy it, because while I know they paved the way, it's just too dated sounding for me. Modern recordings of older pieces get me more. Can you imagine how bad a recording of Beethoven's 5th would've sounded circa 1808 as opposed to a modern symphony group recording it? Lol

Something is their only really good song. Most overrated band of all time.
