Certainly a flawed album but the run from Godforsaken to Starless Paths are some of their best songs ever.

Everything tbh lol. Just feels like they completely mailed it in on this one to me. The only Insomnium album that I don't like. :[

Fair enough, I suppose. I definitely see that with White Christ. Only song of theirs I consider to be just bad.

I like the idea of Insomnium doing the Rotting Christ style riffs but I feel like they def coulda done a lil better

"white christ is fucking dogshit and far and away their worst song" exactly what I thought upon the very first listen, how this got green light on Insomnium album is beyond me. Overall the worst Insomnium probably ever? Half the songs like Lilian, Godforsaken, 1696, Starless Paths are alright but the other half is not good (even the bonus tracks!). Also the production is even worse than it was on One for Sorrow which is hard to believe. Hoping for them to make amends on the next LP.

I do not remember this much outside of half a memory of a track

It has a couple standout tracks, but if you only listen to records front to back I'd say this is one in their discography maybe not worth revisiting

100% agree about Godforsaken and Starless Paths

the one thing i will say to this record's credit is that it's all the longer songs that are the better ones. if it were the other way around this album would have been a disaster. as it stands it's probably their worst album.
