Just over halfway through. Early verdict is that it's a groovier, chilled out weirder proggier and more confident version of what they were doing on TMV, it's very adventurous and I'm already liking it more. It's still in the vein of 80s prog/yacht rock but more fleshed out and complex, honestly it's what the s/t should have been.

Okay imma buy the new record blind. I was cautious after the flaccidity of this and the acoustic version but everyone seems to be pretty happy with it. April is gonna kick ass. New TMV and Deafheaven.

you'll be disappointed again then botb, i think. imo, the new record is the frances the mute version of this. still very subtle and sombre songwriting, but the experimentation and psychedelia is cranked to 11. i'm not sure if i like it yet tbh, think i need more time with it.

Yeah, Lucro Sucio is definitely in the line of the self-titled but it comes off way more experimental and organic in the compositions. Pushing heavier into Santana / Steely Dan territory but with that TMV oddball flavor, and there's no overt catchy "pop" stuff like Graveyard Love, but there's a lot more variety and substance to dig into imo

I like it less than this album, but I need to listen to it more. Cedric is an absolute beast on it. If you like tracks like Noctourniquet, In Absentia, Equus 3 and Flashburns From Flashbacks, that's essentially the sound of the album but with more organic percussion.

Damn, after first listen of Lucro Sucio, I can say I really enjoy it. Incredibly vibey and comfortingly weird. Hope people enjoy it. Sad that it leaked before the band could even announce it.

Anyone who likes this record and their old stuff will probably like the new one. It sounds like this filtered through Frances the Mute, minus all the rock or prog.
