it does say a lot abt this record's quality when opposing takes of 'i only like the upbeat stuff' and 'i only like the slow dreary stuff' still end up in 3s and 3.5s

makes me happy

I think I'd put Golden Age above this one. This one has more ambition though obviously.

Got tickets to see her in July today and they were $16 each. Cheapest show I’ve been to in years and now I can’t wait to hear these songs live

this is quite good unfortunately. the understated slumbering instrumentals pair with her silken primate voice quite noicely. lots of gorgeous moments innit bruvs. but not unlike an annoying niece it overstays it's welcome

Lol so begrudging in your praise. I get where folks thinking this is too long are coming from because I often feel the same about albums this long but for me it all flows so well that it doesn’t drag at all - having longer tracks also makes it feel less long in a way. I’m gonna sound like a broken record but if you think it’s too long try the EPs, most don’t seem to click with those as much as this but part of why I got into her so much even before this was because the EPs are so listenable.

hahah yeah i just feel like im blaspheming against my inner neanderthal, listening to music this slow, and uselessly depressing and glutted with reverb, for 76 minutes no less.

but to the album's credit the back half is beautiful, and it's length is mostly justified. will be slapping a meaty 4.5 on this... but yes very begrudgingly lol

Family Tree and Gibson Girl both rule. And most of the rest of the album, but those two in particular slap my dick

I guarantee you're gonna be hearing some of these songs in tv shows soon, they're way too perfectly moody

Since my music taste is pretty much 'everything', here's a few of my favourite modern bands/artists because I love modern music and disagree that it's bad. As usual, this list is in no particular order.

Phone me if you find a closing duo this year better than “Sun Bleached Flies” and “Strangers.”

And I spend my life watching it go by from the sidelines

And God, I've tried, but I think it's about time I put up a fight…

I might still have to go with Snow Globes and Basketball Shoes but it’s close
