Finally got some time to jam this. Wild take: I like this far-far more than their death metal. I'm glad they pulled a "Beherit card".

Does any critique automatically get reduced to "reductive nonsense?" Wtf man. Why would I be deadset on knocking the album? I said one thing dude.
You made like at least three assumptions about my comment in two replies, like dude.
"I would hardly call your comment a personal experience"
Jesus, same to you I guess.

> These are soundscapes everybody fucks with at some point when diddling on the computer
Since when does ambient music focus on complexity? Good ambient music should aim for invoking atmosphere while maintaning a good "flow". (Bonus if it has good textures.) Mildly organized diddling = good stuff, and it is good stuff!

this assemblage guy discovered paulstretch in 2010 and decided thats what ambient music is

Sure, but I guess explain the inherent invalidity then, if any of that is truly "reductive" and not just a general opinion. Because I guess apparently just thinking about the overall conditions of a piece of work is automatically reductive for some reason if the conclusion differs from someone else's.
And don't forget to include any of parts that somehow also make it "nonsense" somewhere in the analysis. Because I thought it all came out pretty simple to me. But I get you weren't trying to beef with me, somehow, if I just forget about half of what you've already said.

@garas
I never said anything about it not having a great atmosphere or saying ambient music needs to be complex. I never said that at all.
@Sinternet
You're so trash dude why have you never said anything nice about me or anything I post. I've been here for forever and hardly ever get on anyone's case about anything but I'm basically ignored all the fucking time and most of the users pretend like I'm never on this site everyday cause of whatever weird ass fanclub crowd this site is. But yeah, just all jump on one side for no reason and not be too predictable or fellatious about it.

Not gonna imply I could do better than this diddling about on a DAW but Assemblage's overarching point that this is simplistic and not all that varied texturally is a valid one.
You don't need to be super familiar with ambient to find far more nuanced stuff out there, or even to recognize that people were doing this sound better half a century ago when analog synths started to become affordable.

@normaloctagon
Gotcha, so I guess your comments about my comments are in no way being reductive at all, and I guess I can't respond back because since I'm just trying to defend a little bit of what I said against a few presumptions of your own, now's the time to bow out and say I'm being toxic. Alright, it's cool I'll leave it.

bitch i don't even know who tf you are, you expect me to keep track of users who post like 100 comments a year? i'm still trying to keep track of people who change their name every two weeks. people i've talked to for almost a decade change their avatar once and idk who they are for three months.

I guess all I'm saying is, I was just voicing my opinion in the comment section. It's not like I was making this the basis of a review where the observations therein of my subjective experience need to have all the supporting arguments lined up in a formal and fully encompassing fashion, juxtaposed with the merit of the artistic intent along with the use of objective analysis as to the complete and utter nuance of the instrumental composition, to rest my case on.
It was just a "comment" on a couple bits of reasoning, and every single line I wrote got picked apart for being apparently invalid, reductive and nonsense- and basically inadequate for the proper discourse, and I'm just trying to wonder what else I was even supposed to say in a comment, that doesn't involve the swooping in of the thought police with all the philosophical rigor that lies behind the ideology of "your argument is invalid" because of this, this, and this. Also, "you may say something is true based on personal experience but really I just doubt it, because."
