Stop what? Are you implying something's wrong with that opinion?

APC are more diverse than Tool song-for-song, they make more chilled out/pretty music, Maynard's vocal style is different, and these things appeal to some people. Hell, I'm nowhere near the biggest Tool fan and I adore 13th Step.

Quite frankly I'll take 13th Step over two Tool albums, maybe even Aenima. I have no problem admitting that. I love it that much and I'm a huge tool fan.

We're all going to have to agree to disagree here. Clearly no one's opinion is going to be swayed in either direction. I just find Billy Howerdel an amazing guitarist, songwriter, and producer, and his collaboration with Maynard, along with other members like Paz and James Iha, to be irreproducible. I also am just much more fond of the melodic aspect of APC than Tool's sound... however you want to describe it.

That's why I'm a bigger fan of APC. No disrespect to Tool. They're influential beyond measure in their own right.

I think he was talking generally haha

13th just deals with its concept realistically, carefully and emotionally so goddamn well. Every moment is essential and it has an incredible atmosphere. Maynard also rules so hard on it.

13th Step is definitely better than this though, and rivals Aenima and 10,000 Days for me, even if Tool's music overall is way more technical and complex and interesting.

technicality and complexity mean shit to me. All about dem vibes, and Tool do them far better.

Ehh, I wouldn't say better, just differently

APC have a light and airy vibe about them, whereas Tool are more dark and cavernous. Both bands do them well

Wish they would've made a third (a real one, fuck eMOTIVE) album. I love Tool and I adore APC's first 2 albums

They peaked with this imo. Since there'll be more APC next year, I'm interested how it will fair.
