Forgive me if Im wrong (still learning my metal subgenres) but this is a bit blackened is it not?

Would say yes for The Necklace and maybe Brethren of the Cross, but death/doom and gothic rule the roost here

Respect tho trying to acclimate genre read with KD is like trying to learn algebra via organic chem

Yeah, Kayo Dot is one of the most genre defying bands ever to exist, and that's a huge reason why their music is so special imho.

i haven't really ever followed this band before. has it been observed that the vox are extremely similar to king diamond's lower register at times?

can't really say i agree considering King Diamond has a baritone's timbre and can pull far more weight down there than Toby does

Toby sometimes does the King Diamond falsetto wail on Spectrum tho

Well, not necessarily his low low but not his falsetto, lol. It sounds a lot like the albums where KD barely screams - even the phrasing of the verses is a lot like his style

I actually cannot believe that I haven't heard this yet. If it as heavy and complex as Hubardo I'm sold already.
