'the entire second half of Infinite Josh is extraneous postrock jank, amputate that asap / final 5 minutes and first 3 of Fewer Afraid also deserve the chop, but both tracks have the album's best parts so kudos ig'

I think I actually agree, although their length feels necessary to the atmosphere/aesthetic of the album as whole maybe? Which is kind of weird to think about: like, I don't know if I get much out of the songs' lengths while listening to them, but they definitely (positively) colour my perception of the bigness of the album.

Dig the cajones on Infinite Josh second half to mime like they're going to do the post rock crescendo and then just cycle between a lighter riff and a heavier riff and change approximately nothing from either of them at any point and then just smush the two together.

Slap that experimental tag in their genre labels

I don't know if there's anything to this (probably not), but I ordered the physical CD and the tracklisting on the back cover has a line in between the first 9 tracks and the last two, almost as if to denote that they're part of a separate experience. Like a double album, but not really? Regardless, I agree with what you said - I think both of the concluding songs could have been trimmed to the benefit of their overall replayablility, but then this would feel less "magnum opus"-y.

mad that yall ignored me pointing out that the first half of Infinite Josh is literally the same melody as I Won't Say I'm In Love from Hercules

it's the same melody as every wistful emo song ever lol, it's the thoughts n feelz that count
vaguely agreed with the blush/sowing comments, only I'm not convinced this record gains much from pretending to be some kind of magnum opus - the good bits here are sincere without needing to be superlative

bellos vocal melodies are so boring tbh. i still like these guys bc theres enough musically going on here that i can get behind but harmlessness onward his patterns are so repetitive to me. guy uses the same like 3 note pattern half the time and it holds them back

i would be positively giddy for them to drop Bello for reasons vocally and otherwise so yes [123]

i don't hate his vocals and think him and katie's voices work well together. rather his voice and lyrics than someone who has pipes but doesn't know how to write (not that that has to be the case) but this band i feel has never been about talented singers. i'm probably going to five this album in time so finding very little i have a problem with personally.
