"This isn't just a part 2 for the sake of it, but rather a great culmination of the sound they've fostered since the original."
"The amount of callbacks this things while making them sound fresh is insane. Also, they continue to do a good job of sounding more and more fun without ever feeling gimmicky. Even the air horn."
Yeah honestly this thing is a love letter to the long time fans more than anything. All the spirit of the original, with the sound pallete they developed with every proceeding album, complete with easter eggs and call backs to songs from all across their discog. Not sure I'd appreciate this thing as much as I do had I not already been a fan for so long

Your review is good and thoughtful I might think more if it was 3.5 but now I know you like to hate

Yeah 2.5 rating is immensely hateful
Letting that pent up animosity run free

I know I can feel it

Colors in my favorite album from the band but this is just an exercise of self masturbation. The band has talent for days but I cant stand the constant shift of melodies and rhythms. Also the Patton and circus music influence needs to stop.

This is a great way of describing it. Sonic Mania instantly came to my mind when I read your comment. Most of the game was built upon the foundations of Sonic 1-3 and CD, but all of the recycled stages brought something completely new to the table, with the addition of several new zones and modes. The whole thing was a love-letter to old-school Genesis fans, and while tons of newcomers were able to enjoy it on its own merits, it was loaded with Easter eggs and nostalgia that could only be truly appreciated by those long-time fans. This album does something strikingly similar, and reminds me a lot of the experience that I felt a few years back (and still feel) whenever I play that game. It's a definitive 2D Sonic experience, combining everything that made those games classics, and this album does the same thing with most of BTBAM's legacy.

There’s so much to it. And Human is Hell is a ripping closer

Comparing BTBAM to Sonic the Hedgehog is very concerning and probably more accurate than I care to delve
