These bands are literally talentless nerds trying to sound quirky, yes.



Let me tell you a story. When I've heard Black Midi for the first time it was at a male's friend, he put their debut on his stereo and had this dumb smile on his face. He wanted to know what I think of it, I responded as politely as I could: guys liking music like that is why the West is dying.



Seriously, I never thought "hip" music will become so fucking gamma in such a short time, their fans make incels look like chad demigods. Squid and BCNR are slightly better tho, but that's about it.

If we were talking about your average bourgeiouse post-punk band it would be fair to write it off as just 'good post-punk' but everyone saying that and giving a 7 seem to pay absolutely zero attention the concept of the album, which is what elevates it above that level. This isn't IDLES singing about their safe milquetoast liberal ideas this is a HORROR story that peels pack the layers on the crappy dystopic lives we live in the technocapitalist, corporatist nightmare that is now western civilisation.
