This work is on the best metal 2021 list of BangerTV YouTube
Knew them, but never dig Gojira.
Until now.

It's an alright album and is worth checking at least, that being said, their previous efforts are a must

This is definitely in my top 10 for 2021, so fun. It also opened the door for me to listen to their previous stuff which is a big win.

Idk, this just bored the shit out of me

Not a fan of the production. Maybe, it that was better, the record would have done something for me

thanks Flug, I do know. Kalky the production is what it is, but I think it's not enough to bring it down more than a half point (which I did initially, then bumped it to a 4 cuz the songs are just nice)

I should probably check this again, but the songs didn't do that much for me either tbh. Born For One Thing was nice tho

Overkill statement much

Well it isn't revolutionary or mindblowing, but it's solid as fuck. I think the stretch from Sphinx to Grind is as good as any they've had on an album. Born is also great, but there's a couple of duds that do bring the overall thing down a tad too much. This is probably 3.8 if I could rate it like that

HOW?

They took the best of magma and l'enfant sauvage and put them in a blender and this is the result. I can't understand you.

Well, this was also the soundoff he posted:

“ Metal died in 1993. Only 12 good albums have been released since then (most of them in 1994, being already recorded by 1993). Metal achieved its creative peak in albums like Onward to Golgotha, Pure Holocaust, and The Red in the Sky is Ours, elevating the genre into a legitimate art form. Now, thanks to Slaughter of the Soul and Gojira, all its potential was squandered and the genre has been reduced into being mere gimmick ridden noise for drunk idiots (i.e. the lowest common denominator - stop trying to turn underground metal into AC/DC).”

Imagine being so cynical and closeminded at the same time

while i find the production on this album overdone with way too much bass boost, the bass playing in born for one thing is spectacular
