My ranking is low key the exact opposite of Colton’s, though s/t, Crack-Up, and this all kind of flip-flop for me. HB defo #1 though.

Mine is probably something like
HB > Crack-Up > Shore > S/T
Crack-Up and Shore are pretty close, though. They both offer something different.

I'd say Helplessness Blues is probably the most popular choice as favourite among fans.

HB is most popular for good reasons

I do feel like Crack-Up gets overlooked sometimes. It's such a great record.

i do respect hb even if i dont particulary like it all that much. this though is the blandest thing ever

Nah. I think this record is great. I love the tension and dissonance, and the dynamics between the airy and spacious reverberated parts contrasting against the tighter drum kits and electric guitars. It's a cool duality throughout the album.

I think the production here is really well done, just a lovely summery atmosphere and breezy album, but nothing about the lyricism sticks with me, unlike their other three

This is so smooth and glossy that it's almost slippery. Definite warm summer vibes and I love the heck out of it, but it doesn't hold the timeless appeal of their prior records, especially HB and CU.

Actually, there's some stand out songs that really hit me. One of them in particular is 'Featherweight'. That songs is so beautiful.
I know Pecknold has struggled before with what it means to be an artist and partially taking for granted the opportunity that he has had in the past. It's one of the reason why the group went on hiatus following HB. Shore is obviously a much brighter and more grateful record. It's the general theme of 'Sunblind' but it also comes up in 'Featherweight'.
"In all that war I'd forgotten how many men might die for what I'd renounced."
I think it's a lovely line that can be applied to anyone, really. It's easy to forget how good we have it; the things we fail to appreciate.

i think this, along with their s/t, have clear goals towards what they want to convey. HB and CU seem meandering and the compositions so obtuse and over complicated, they take away from the simplicity that's so important to my enjoyment of FF's music.

Ragged Wood and Mykonos are also both great calls
I'm not quite as obsessed with the debut and the Sun Giant EP so I tend to overlook them even though they're both excellent in their own right.
