his vocal artistry has been trembling on a fine line between brilliance and bizarre for a long while now. perdition city was definitely in the brilliance area, his sessions with arcturus, shadows and themes and blood inside are either or depending on whom you ask. looks like this time around he's soundly tumbled into the bizarre
re: what he was thinking. i think he's always been thinking the same thing, just was a big miss this time around

If by bizarre you mean monotony then yes, agreed. And for sure, he has been an acquired taste since forever, that's true.

that's very clearly not what i meant

The last time I checked this was the best one yet. That's making me cautiously optimistic about my future enjoyment.

Looks like I'm the only one that really loves A Thousand Cuts. Instant classic to me. Stunning mood, melodies, lyrics, and everything pretty much
Nostalgia, One Last Dance are also amazing

Peacock and especially Little Boy are still better but it's certainly up there yes.
Talons, every time I see your username I instantly get Kisses Of Fire by ABBA stuck in my head. I love ABBA so that's a good thing, just to be clear.

Haha I think my friend from middle school came up with that phrase and I thought it’d be a badass username, also since I was a metal head back in 2012.

Haha yeah it certainly is! It's nicely apocalyptic and mythical. Always nice to hear the story behind the name.

In the Wolves Evolve book they mention this might be their last album for a longer while. They feel it as a sort of climax. Same for the tour they were planning. I hope it's not the case though.

Aiiii that would be such a pity. Yet I can imagine it would feel this way very often after finishing a new one.
Still haven't started reading it, only read the introduction and the first few pages.

I doubt they will stop releasing albums, because during the last few years they say things have been real good themselves. The book is great, because it has these interviews where they just talk about their history. It's great to see each member's perspective this way.

Yeah that sounds great. I got that sense from the first few pages too, really insightful and exactly the kind of conversation I'm interested in. But I only read one book at a time and it'll be a while before I finish Les Misérables...

It is an alright album but a bit too monotonic. I enjoyed The Assassination more and keep coming to that one from time to time. Don't think that will happen with this one, but who knows... Little Boy is a song that stands out the most for me.
BTW, what is with the album cover? Is it kinda connected to the lyrics of A Thousand Cuts?

It's from The Passion Of Joan Of Arc, a 1920s silent movie, and by many considered to be one of the best movies ever made. Especially Falconetti's performance (the woman in the picture) is universally loved.

I guess I can give that one a try.
First I thought it might be somehow connected to the 'The Flowers of Evil' poems because of the title but then heard in the lyrics some mentioning of cuts with scissors and all that so thought it might be connected to that.
