I just can’t imagine caring that much about what some random person says about music by one of the biggest musicians in the world.

Imagine being a grown man sending people death threats about fucking t swizzle

So I tried listening to this and got 4 songs deep. All I could think was, “You’re supposed to listen to this for an HOUR?”
Edit: She has such a nice voice, but the songs are so uninspired. All State insurance music, whole ass.

I’m finishing this rn, but I really fucked myself by expecting anything resembling a real folk record.

Some really nice tracks in this, but it is way too long and suffers for it. Suits an evening background music playlist as the nights start to draw in.

This is *barely* above average music. Not a single track off this record is re-playable more than ten times before it becomes an immediate skip on your playlist. Meh.

Was this produced by jack Antonoff?

I never expected it to be a pure folk album. And I am a fan of folk, but I think the album is best the way it is - a combo of singer/songwriter folk, indie rock such as The National, and her signature pop.
Some people joined to 5 it, but also some metal people who never would have liked it are giving 1s. I hardly ever rate metal because it is not a genre I listen to much.

A 1 is a lot more reasonable for this than a 5 anyway

@mdvu: The National are head and shoulders over this, even at their most trite.
It’s like I’m watching T-Swift convince middle class white girls that she relates to them and have them pay her for it. The songs are just so uninnovative and half the melodies sound like they’re familiar from all the super digestible drivel it loosely quotes, but it’s different enough to avoid any copyrights. Imagine running songs like these through a writing team and having them still come out so boring.
I ate this overdone steak at Waffle House last night and it was more flavorful than this record. Again, sweet voice though.

Yeah I was gonna say, t swizz is essentially lowest common denominator pop, when ur appealing to the biggest demograph possible of course it's gonna be pretty shallow and by the numbers
That being said, of course she tries to come across as relatable

Her sound changes always feel like a business decision. Forced. Contrived.
It’s like she’s trying to be a musical chameleon as it suits her but rn this is blue polka dots in the forest.
