Yeah I have no idea what to rate this yet, but it's hypnotizing as fuck.

Bro, this sounds like someone recorded it two apartments down from him. I get the aesthetic but... that kills it for me.

Did for me too years back, saw that 4.3 on the s/t, got halfway through the second track and was like these people are nuts with that avg.

I love it now though.

It'd be in excellent company, I spy that des Ténèbres rating. I adore Jess' so much and its something everyone hanging around here needs to check out imo.

That album is so fucking good. When I was cruising my bm chart to see when the last unreal album came out in the genre, that was the first one I found that compares to this.

After one listen, I'm not really hearing what distinguishes this album from the rest of this particular sub-genre of black metal. It's well executed and I like the production, but all these 5's are really throwing me off. Maybe I'll have to give it another listen while reading or something.

This is unlikely to hit you full force the first time, especially if you're not familiar with Paysage.

Edit: gonna check that Tenebres album.

Gonna put this out there and say the Wanderers: Astrology of the Nine holds my attention a wee bit more than this.

Great review by the way.

Listened to Wanderers once, thought it was really good. Listened to it again, couldn't get through it. Nervous about a third listen, pretty sure my rating will drop.

It feels kinda bloated, especially toward the end, whereas everything here feels just right.

I prefer Wanderers: Astrology of the Nine over this also, and I thought a lot of it's best stuff was in the latter half of the album. Pretty much everything from Jupiter outward really clicked with me.

Portal, shoutbox me and let me know what you think of that album when/after you listen. Unless you don’t like it, then I don’t want to hear it ;-)
