Tragic Idol kicks some serious ass imo.

I still think Tragic Idol has one of Nick's best performances. The live shows of that album cycle are a different story... The production is loud and far from ideal, but it fits the oppressive vibe of the record as I've said before and the 2017 vinyl remaster helps a bit.
I'd go Obsidian/Plague>Tragic Idol/Faith>In Requiem>Medusa.
Either way, their 2007-present run has been phenomenal.

Also I think it's just a matter of time to bump In Requiem to a 4.5.
It's so good.

Damn Medusa needs more love here. I understand why some may think it's monotonous but the songs kick so much ass in their simplistic and monolithic way. Less is more sometimes.

All post-st PL rules hard tbh
They've been on a massive roll since In Requiem. If we don't count Icon and DT, this has been their most prolific run in their career. Band ages like fine wine.

I guess so. TBH the only ones I'm not crazy about are Shades, Tragic and the debut.
So yeah...even Host and BiN have their moments of brilliance imo. :D

Host is really good

Host needs more love.

I'm not a huge fan of their first three albums (Lost Paradise, Gothic, Shades of God). They sound too outdated and very repetitive, especially their debut. Still some decent tracks, especially on Shades.
Although I do like the 2013 versions of Gothic and Our Savior. I'd probably like their first two albums a lot better if they were re-recorded with modern production and vocals.

Also agree with the above about Medusa being underrated. It's just heavier and more raw than Plague, which is also very good.

Gothic had a big impact for what it was. They were kids, thrown in a studio and creating a unique mix of soundscapes. I respect your opinion tho, don't get me wrong. It's like Host, I clearly recall people saying if it had distorted guitars up in the mix, harsh vocals and more aggressive aesthetic it would be good. It wouldn't be Host though.

Well, except the harsh vocals that description fits Believe in Nothing to a certain extent, but that album ended up being regarded even worse by most people.

Too bad BiN's remastered version is absolute crap.

Shades needs a remaster.

Yeah, Believe in Nothing is actually great, yet still among their weakest.
Some elements work better on the remix/remaster, while I prefer others on the original. All in all, they're kinda on the same level for me. At least the band is finally happy with it.
Shades doesn't need any remaster; it's one of their most distinct records and also the most dynamic production-wise.

No hope, only tears and misery upon those cursed original masters, Egbro...
