The production on Drift is terrible. JT's vocals are incredibly one-dimensional, which sucks when you realize how amazing Garrison was as the lead vocalist. The album is extremely inconsistent. The instrumentation pales in comparison to the previous albums that came before it. And Jesse's clean hooks are so hit-or-miss, mostly on the miss side.
Drift is the EXACT opposite of Greyview. IA is doing what Erra has been failing to do for the past 2 albums, and that is craft a record that is not only fun and engaging to listen to, but is also just as enjoyable as their previous albums. Despite the change in lead vocalists, the new guy puts in work and isn't one-dimensional. IA is just the better band right now, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this either.

Both Drift and Greyview productions are very similar, dont understand the heavy detest for Drift

I like both albums/bands but yeah IA is better in every possible way at this point.

"Both Drift and Greyview productions are very similar"
Are we listening to the same albums?

Lyrics are a touch too much for me on this record. Erra's songwriting about nature being dope as fuck is a huge mark in their favor for me personally. It's a real nice change of pace from all the heavy anger/sadness/etc that a lot of lyrics tend to feature.

"Are we listening to the same albums?"
went from one album to the other, very little deference lol, over-exaggeration

Losing Garrison was a big enough blow as is, but they also lost Alan who played off Jesse so perfectly and made fantastic melodic passages that just aren't present in Erra anymore. Jesse has gotten better at channeling the aggression mixed with the interesting melodies like on Ghost of Nothing and Eye of God for example, but on Drift it was very hit or miss

The guilt and the shameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
This is still my aoty.
Also this >>>>>>> anything Erra, and the production and mixing on this is elite tier. Drift isn't a bad album overall but going back and listening to them side by side the production falls very flat and feels empty compared to this. It was immediately noticeable tbh.

I still need to go through this again, I took a break for a few months, so gotta see if it maintains that same punch
So far, no other metalcore album has quite topped this yet so, we'll see if it still holds up

Find myself returning to Eden a lot, that main riff is so good and not too overly complex. Halcyon came on my spotify shuffle and started to listen to the album again after, glad I did

This band is closer to Northlane than Erra to me. Even if old northlane and not their newer stuff.
I prefer Erra to this band, but I can see how one might say this band is objectively "better".

I'm kind of done debating the topic lol, just a little thought I had that kinda went out of control...

I'd say this falls closer to Erra with production and relative sound... because I view Stillworld as the ultimate Northlane 2.0 album, this moves away from that style similar to what Erra does, I'd agree with that

Erra would be significantly better if they got someone else to do the screaming. The guy on Drift is awful, he actively makes the album worse..

I'd still say this is much closer to early Northlane than Erra, closest this band ever came to sounding like Erra was probably Naturehold

I would prob take Erra over IA but they're pretty neck and neck. Both bands produce total heaters

2009-2013 Erra is my favorite band for sure, but post Augment I'd def rather take IA

Something about Drift caught me hard. I love that album so much. Augment is still better but I didn’t think drift was a drop off as much as most.
And JT is pretty monotone but that’s never really bothered me in screaming when it’s deep. Like Karl from Mis Sigs was pretty monotone but he’s so damn good.
