"stick to vietnam where you lost against a bunch of rice farmers"
not like i'm anything close to being pro us foreign policy but im pretty sure vietnam is securely in the western sphere of influence because of the war
that shitty war did exactly what it was supposed to do

And yeah BoB and The Pacific are kinda rah rah America but you cannot possibly argue that America wasn't on the correct side of history in WW2, whether against Germany or Japan.

Confused how I feel about this. I know I like it, but I feel like a should-have-been-classic pop album that is weighed down by some truly average stuff. So Heavy and My Name is Dark are god-tier.

Oooh which are your avg cuts?
(this was pretty much my exact first impression but am coming round to this big time - it's the first non-sum of its parts Grimes album imo)

Delete Forever, Violence, and You'll Miss Me off the top of my head are enjoyable but very straightforward.
(this is my first listen of my first ever grimes album)

I downloaded this because the highs here are so fucking unbelievable. Hopefully the rest grows on me. This might be totally off but this reminds me a lot of Magdalene in vibes only, very mysterious, atmospheric, and dark art/synth-pop.

Jam Art Angels.

That's interesting; can see a few production similarities, but I think of Magdalene as a wide range of high res flourishes zeroing in on the personal, whereas this strikes me as Grimes exploding the contents of her brain to high heaven

I don't have enough experience with Grimes to get into the nuances of the comparison, it was just a very hot take. Bottom line is I'm interested. Probably a 3.5 at the moment, could go up.
