There's a somewhat of a space vibe, the mix itself and atmospheric features that induces that...if you check Cosmovore from Ulthar f.e. you ll get that too (Horrendous, Morbus Chron or Venenum meet that area as well).
Anyway...track 3 is full of that...not to mention the band themselves said it was written under the influence...so, if nothing else, I can be biased by that.
Band comments:
"Inner Paths (to Outer Space)" is a meditative journey through the inner cosmos of the human mind. We improvised this track on psychedelics over a period of several months, allowing it to grow and evolve as it chose. The atmosphere is meant to allow the listener time and space to explore their own thoughts and go on their own journey before the epic brutality of the album returns for the final track."
This is a bit pretentious, I like it. I think they achieve something.

There are some light psych elements, I can see that. Same with Starspawn. It isn't massively ingrained in their sound, so definitely on the milder side compared to a couple of other things I've heard. Closer to Horrendous than the other two you mentioned I'd say.

Improvising a track on psychedelics doesn't make it psychedelic. I mean I kinda guess that track is a proggy instrumental but idk I wouldn't call this album psychedelic really. The first one had more psychedelic vibes but overall ehhh not really, at least not compared to other death metal bands that do psych stuff

I mean there's more to psychedelic than just being "atmospheric" and spacey, it's an actual genre

I wouldn't necessarily label them psych, but I can see it. On a sliding scale it comes in on the mild side though which I already admitted. Genre classifications are rarely so blatantly black and white, as we've seen many times before here.

We're walking on a pretty much slippery ground...by "spacey" I meant echoed with layered sounds, and not necessarily from the space ...if your take on psych sound is just present on 70's progrock and trance music, meaning as a genre, then they are not psych (and in that way you could tell it more clearly in the prev release agreed). They have cool psych aspects and there's a ton of new and old DM bands that add that vibe to their music. But it can be all a matter of interpretation.

After one listen, I like it a lot. Somewhere between maybe a 3.5 and 4.0, need to give it another spin before I decide.

Going with a 3.5 for now. Track one is incredible. Track two is a small step down but still great. Track three is the album's weak spot. Track four doesn't _entires_ justify its length, but it contains some of the albums best moments.
I actually enjoy the somewhat short 38-minute run time. Was able to listen to this twice while at the gym this morning. Strong 3.5 for now, we'll see if it continues to grow on or off me.

Yap...as for me I sense a 4.5 in potential...more spins are required...track 3 is admittedly an intro to the next song but I feel your view.

this is nice but not as impactful as I thought it'd be based on the reception its received
I think I'm saying it's not that heavy 50% of the time and as it's a short album I'm surprised this is the metal album that's been latched onto
A lot of it is quite meandering and vaguely psychedelic I guess
The fact the runtime is short will help it, I'll revisit this a load, but 3.5 for now - it seems like half a good metal album
