Aren't most things at least a bit derivative though. How long can music not undergo huge paradigm shifts thanks to the power of the Internet bubble keeping things that would have died off before it alive because the fanbase is there without being derivative

But if you have an audience that have a direct connection to you via the Internet you almost don't have to innovate to stay alive. The little bubbles that we can just sit in if we want to are a one way ticket to genre stagnation if an artists doesn't feel like making that leap
