Maybe I just don't get it, but what is with her lyrical cadence? It's like she has no sense of how many syllables a word has, or how long a word is. There is just something offputting and awkward about the lyrics here. Short words being shoved into spaces too long and long words stuffed where shorter would do better

Movies is the worst offender here in that department

I dont know if I have trouble with her cadence or lyrics per se but I'm not sure I'm fully into her voice. Too...baroque? Macabre?

Okay Movies is absolutely beautiful. Her seraphic voice almost moved me for a bit while near the end.

I mean my comment sounds a bit douchey, but the criticism of syllables/lyrics is something many, many artists do. Listen to an old school soul or R&B album and the melodic division of single syllables is at least twice as noticeable as here. Most modern music is too flat to have any interesting lines that require such syllable division. It could be circumstantial evidence that the artist probably wrote the music before the lyrics, but it's also an intentional style. They call it "riffing," not to be confused with metal riffing lol

Her singing is just beautiful I don't know why someone wouldn't like it but I know there's all kinds of tastes.

I get it but IMO it is used to bad effect here. The example of movies I gave where there resolution of the melody should have been on the "moo" instead of "vies" (obviously IMO) makes the whole line super awkward and I couldn't help but cringe when I heard that line

Thought her lyrical cadences and syllabic uses really unique and inventive on this. Only thing I could see is that her voice really isn’t anything special, even if quite beautiful

oh boy...I liked this very muuuuch! Don't know any of her other work but found this with high compositional skills...beautiful and tender vocals...somewhat Beatles meeting Portishead meeting MGMT. What a beautiful way to start the day.
