Feel like the Witcher 3 was pretty hit or miss in general with boss design, but Hearts of Stone did well with it for sure

i definitely feel you on code vein. my god, that game looks so boring. i watched all the gameplay on it that they have up to this point and nothing about it looks like fromsoft to me. it looks like a generic rpg imo. rly stiff combat and generic visuals.



edit: i think i read somewhere recently that fromsoft isn't working on it anymore tho, which could explain it.

Ah yeah don't think it was ever FromSoft? It's Bandai Namco, their publishers. The whole anime aesthetic with souls combat could have been a huge seller for me but it doesn't seem to have much life in it

One of the weaker Fromsoft titles? Game has maybe the best combat I've ever experienced. Really bummed that there won't be any dlc tho. Just went through the game again recently. Sword Saint is mother fucking hard on ng+4. Like, holy shit he's nearly impossible.

Has no DLC been confirmed? I'd set it upper-mid tier From but not on the level of DS1/BB

DS1 and DS3 are so close for me. 3's combat shits on 1, but 1's world is better. Bloodborne might be my favourite Fromsoft game, it's just amazing almost all the way through, altho I do feel as tho the level design dips in the latter half.

Ah bummer. Yeah, nightmare levels in BB are the only thing holding it back. I kinda love 1's combat in its way - every swing has to count for so much more than in 3 even though it's clunkier. 3 is a dream for boss design and the general action experience though, but this and BB edge it out in the latter field

Lol Demon's Souls is an antiquated pos at this point. It was so good when it launched and I'm desperate for a remake but going back to it now feels like shit

the combat does lack a little bit nowadays but not that much unless you're just looking for the git gud difficulty of their more recent titles. the world and level design still hold up well. damn the jail might be my fav level in the entire series

Yeah man came back to shadow of the colossus after a decade with updated graphics was so much fun. Was like discovering the game all over again. Really the benchmark for what a remaster should aspire to.

Demon's Souls still rules and is great to play even today

Bloodborne's Nightmare levels are the best areas in that game with so many unique elements that make them engaging and fun to traverse

Sekiro's combat is okay but it the most one-note and least interesting of the Miyazaki games
