Lmao imagine thinking vocals are the problem with this band. Not that there really is much of a problem, but he's literally why this band exists at this point.

The vocals are actually the problem.
|

The songwriting is the biggest problem.

You guys, you guys...
Everything here is the problem.

The structure is the problem. AOGHAU was much more interesting there, this is just a nice cathartic comeback.

Vocals and songwriting. Never understand the hype with With these guys or Erra.

Go listen to Hollow Crown or TH&N cause both rip.

The "writing the same song" complaint is actual proof people don't listen to their albums.
"hereafter is good" yeeeee boy, all the singles slay.

"Go listen to Hollow Crown or TH&N cause both rip."
Always like to see people who give credit to TH&N, it had some corny shit but the album was actually really good... but people mocked it and complained so much they probably won't return to that sound.
Either way, heavier seems the way to go for them specially with Josh as a member of the band.

Generic songwriting and stagnation is what's wrong. I loved this album but if they make another one of these I'll be over it I think. I also think they are redundant as fuck lyrically.
I cannot possibly fathom why you think Sam's vocals don't sound good. He's one of the best in the genre. I do think he's gone overboard with the sing/scream style but if anyone was gonna do it he's the best I've heard.

Aside from Doomsday every song has at least 3 repeats of the chorus, and the opener has a whopping five repeats. I was always under the impression that these guys were in the same "prog-metalcore" vein of acts like Erra, who also became ridiculously conventional with Neon compared to Drift.

I guess I just like sing/scream style, probably my favorite type of vocals lol. First Adept album and plot in you come to mind.

why does sam have to be one of the most monotone screamers ever

Drags their music down a ton, although his screaming does sound good. I just wished they used more actual clean vocals
