It's only 37 minutes total, making it their shortest album

This stuck with me and grew until I decided I actually really like it and rated accordingly.

atari speaking my language

idk why Sputnik doesn't love Emery as much as it used to, or why it never loved Emery as much as, say, Underoath or Anberlin or other Tooth&Nailcore. but anyway discog rank time, this'll make some of you mad

1. The Question (5/5)

2. In Shallow Seas We Sail (4.8/5)

I gave this a good listen the first week of January, then became obsessed and it was literally the only thing i listened to for a month straight, then I ventured out and have only been listening to Emery for 2 months straight. Moving this to a 5 because of that.

this isn't actually a 5. Just like to 5 albums sometimes and it was meant to generate hype lol. still really good for an Emery album in 2018 tho imo (and better than their last few before it). a 3.8 average is pretty generous

I think this or The Question are both a good place to start. I feel both are pretty well-balanced in comparison to some of their other work.

This one gets better after the first 2-3 tracks tho. I thought I was going to hate it at first

this is behind In Shallow Seas and just ahead of The Question for me, still think it’s a 5, if not, at least a 4

counterpoint: this isn't a good place to start because it's 10x richer when you know the band's history (moreso personal history than musical history). The Question or In Shallow Seas are much better entry points in my opinion.

also Safe is probably the least interesting song here, surprised it gets so much love -- obviously it's got a ton of emotion, but, jeez, Streets of Gold/Name Your God though
