Yeah, just a bit. I mean I don’t blame the hype - and it should settle into a pretty sweet average rating

It’s def a bit overrated lol. But I mean yeah it’s still really great just not as amazing as he hype around here is making it seem imo. Anareta never got this type of hype and I think it’s hands down the bettter album but idk.

Anareta had a lot of hype, this one only has more because more people get turned onto the band with every release. They’re also super similar in quality, I think it’s hard to argue that Anareta is WAY better but to each his own

Choosing one as your favorite is entirely subjective, and there may be an objectively better album, but with them being so close I think it's a moot point.

Like, which Artificial Brain album is best, or which Ulcerate is best? There really isn't a wrong answer m/

I'm the same. I don't love dissonant Gorguts worship DM as much as a lot of people around here, but their drummer is insane. I almost went to go see them live just to see him play. I prefer this style of DM the most though.

definitely not overrated or overhyped ... is album is a pinnacle of modern death metal, and this is coming from someone who has been consistently underwhelmed by their previous material

Glad you dig it, but I don't really understand how you could be so underwhelmed by Anareta and think this is a masterpiece. They are very similar in exceptional quality.

this feels more fluid and comfortable to me ... i do like anareta a lot, but this just seems to flow better and like they're more confident in embracing the "progressive" elements of their music

I might be the only person in the universe who prefers Ecdysis

I enjoy the last 3 about the same. Ecdysis was a perfect blend of the old and the new and is definitely m/

Yeah man, it's not a good driving album either. I found it to be most enjoyable laying in bed with a good set of headphones and really focusing on the intricacies.

Oh nice, thought I was gonna get slammed for that. Yeah, Edysis is just much more my style.

Also agreed, this album does not bring the biceps.
