I actually think, contra Soccer, that the negativity around this album has been pretty muted, mostly just people not understanding what the appeal is, which I get given that sputnik is sputnik and that this is undeniably a glossy pop album at heart
but it's good imho

@chan: of course, I just think it’s silly & even mildly disappointing if anyone wants to actively ‘shoot this down’ just because it isn’t something they enjoy & has received significant critical acclaim. It’s become a target due to the praise & having a counter-argument is fine, but let’s not pretend everyone is going to forget about it in a year to suit a clearly biased narrative.
I wouldn’t make such bold claims as I cannot know the minds of others & it seems like (bizarre) ‘wishful’ thinking.

I find this average, plain and simple, and doubt it will last, as I believe time is unkind to ALL genres nowadays. The only reason I may be viewing this more critically now is because I'm viewing it through the lens of a potential AoTY candidate. I'm more confused, if anything. People can like what they like, I fail to see this being so strong though.

100% this. No one has talked about this album. At all. Since it dropped. And now it’s taking over AOTY lists everywhere. And I feel most people have already forgotten it. And how this backseated Daughters makes my brain explode. But whatever, the whole top 10 this year sucked so I guess I’m just at a loss
