bloc those 'soaring melodies' are what made songs like Meddler and Mariana's Trench some of their greatest of all time. This shit has always been part of the sound. Thrill Seeker and Messengers had some really cool parts but damn there was so much 1-note chugging. That shit gets so boring after repeated listens, give me those sweet melodic riffs.

They're fine, but now it seems like they're appearing every 10 seconds in every song.
