i'm really not that disappointed in UST. they maybe play into their strengths there a little, but it's a more hermetical, patient album

ya, i agree this is their best for sure, i've heard everything except their debut

i was not disappointed at all with "Ultimate Success today", it's not like they regressed or anything.

you can't really expect every band to improve after their best work with their next album

I don't know what happened here, but its one of a kind. Its pure, raw and gives the feeling they played the all thing at once. I love this. Its like they had this "Thing" to come out and threw it at us.

amen brother. it might be the only album from 2010s that already broke into my classic section. usually need to have stood the test of time much longer, but this hold up and will hold up still

I've considered it for a long time. Very close to a 5. Idk what it's missing. I guess I feel some tracks are more essential than others. A Private Understanding is such a beautiful piece. Need to see these motherfuckers live whenever shows come back.

I think trying to go along with the lyrics is adding the tiny extra little oomph needed to flip this into classic

fuck it

Oh the lyrics in this are pretty damn iconic. They're kind of just evocative poetic fragments that don't necessarily always mean much on their own, but I had a lengthy convo with my friend about how it's easy to project meaning onto them in interpreting them.

Oh fucking totally, especially the interrupted thought sorta stuff, “she’s just trying to reach you” and all that sort.

But like the bitterly resigned anxiety on The Chuckler and Windsor Hum is just so specific and fully formed, and Caitriona’s fucking hysterical, lord I love it
