Not the best defense for a 4.5 tbh

I don't really see the Macklemore/Lamar comparison but they're really just taking a page from the internet pop rap playbook that many others have mined from endlessly. Difference is these guys have the personality, creativity, and awesome hooks to keep it fun and incredibly fresh.

i think sach is invariably an important part of any discussion he chooses to take part in but i need a THESIS NOW JEZZA also the assumption that they're doing it for the critical acclaim is just that: an assumption, and a wild one at that. ily tho and all that.

had an extended talk with sach and his points def have some merit, kinda boils down to if you can look past the obvious marketing ploys / trend stealings. he can't and most can. oh well

I mean, you pretty much need to take an active role in marketing/branding yourself (whether genuine or not) to have longevity in the music industry. I'd only have a problem with it here if the main appeal of these guys wasn't their music. Their marketing wouldn't have as big an impact if so many people didn't love their songs.

album starts off with some fun beats but a bit samey, and really picks up in terms of lyrical content and interesting melodies in the second half. look forward to more from these guys
