God I hate when people say this

when an argument degenerates to just 'no you're wrong' I say that because it makes me really happy for some reason.

I'll never get over that White Offerings could have been a great song but is instead probably the most barebones things these guys have ever put out

It's an obvious throwback to Leaving Song Pt. 2. It was never gonna top that song though. I think it's super solid but nowhere near the highlight of the album, you're just focusing on it I think because it's like the only aggro song on the album that hearkens back to STS and DU when there was still a shred of grit to their music. This album has much more varied offerings than that though, Aurelia, Pink Eyes, The Wind, Still A Stranger, Hidden Knives, She Speaks The Language are all classics to me. Whole album is super strong but I sympathize with people who hate the AFI of late. I hated DU and CL when they came out, but eventually I came to love them like this album.

And I think I Want To Get A Mohawk (But Mom Won't Let Me Get One) was SLIGHTLY more barebones than White Offerings...

I don't care for Answer That or even Very Proud of Ya. I generally am referring to current lineup AFI when I talk about the band as a whole.
Crash Love is their best since STS.
I love Still a Stranger, Pink Eyes, Dark Snow, and She Speaks The Language. Only track I actually dislike is White Offerings and I cringe whenever I hear it being compared to Leaving Song Pt 2. Get Hurt and Above a Bridge are...average and Snow Cats got annoying but everything I didn't mention is definitely good

I was being facetious.
I don't know if I agree with that but it's close, I probably still go with DU.
Above The Bridge is actually the most bare-bones track on this and I love it because I'm a Cure whore and the influence is so blatant that I'm just charmed by it. Get Hurt is just one of the best songs they've ever done, fight me.
I don't think White Offerings is even half as good as LS.P2 but it's a great song. Good verse, chorus, awesome bridge. Not deep but doesn't outstay it's welcome. Its crime is just being a tease because they don't write songs in that vein anymore.

Guy who wrote this article is a fool.
This album kicks ass
One of their best records for sure
They keep getting better and better as time goes on.

Davey just confirmed they are indeed writing and that a new album next year is possible.
Even if it misses that deadline, that still basically confirms new album for 2020 at the latest and gahhhhh that's exciting.
