Hm, I don't look at any of this like filler. Obviously, some songs aren't as substantial as others, but it all flows rather well.

Yeah I guess calling it filler was a bit too harsh, 'less substantial' is definitely a more accurate way to put it. Still though, there's just not enough good material here.

I got you, man, I'm not too sure whether I like this or not, to be fair. I think I might, but I'll have to listen to is some more. Anything in specific you don't like about it otherwise? I understand the whole unsubstantial/filler argument, what about the other songs?

I like how instead of making these situations sound like dreary "wahhh life suuuucks" stuff, this album makes you feel like you're right there in the storm, everything unstable and prone to sudden shifts out of your control
like, looking at the shorter tracks as "filler" or even "less substantive" doesn't really do them justice due to how their quick, instantaneous bursts of energy or moments of calm affect the ones around them. For an album as short as 20 minutes with song runtimes as short as most of these have, not a single second on this feels like a waste to me
also "Everything Is In Your Hands" and "On Earth, As It Is In Heaven" have to be two of the best tracks to come out of the greater New England emo scene this decade, so there's that

really well put Ash. I agree with Everything in Your Hands being one of the best emo rev songs in awhile. just perfect

Just listened to it again, and I agree with Ash (which reminds me, I need to check your music too). It's anywhere between a 3-5 right now, though. I bet it'll settle on a 3.5 like most of my ratings.

I really enjoyed this, man. You do a great job of doing more than simply discussing how the album sounds--any old review on the web, or even a cursory listen can achieve that--instead you really focus on what it made you feel, which is definitely the most captivating style of review. Furthermore you clearly have a honed-in sense of sentence and paragraph structure; you have the actual writing part of writing down, which makes it easier for someone like me to read, enjoy, and offer criticism.
As you likely saw coming, here are some things I took issue with:
Exemplify or illustrate would be a better fit than portray in the second paragraph.
"Not the album but the mindset, a change in perspective" would be better suited with a long-dash than a comma. Even a semi-colon could work if that's your preference.
I have to admit that I was definitely irked by the sentences in between paragraphs. I understand that the subject matter they delve into is close to your heart, but these interjections come off as a little melodramatic in practice. I think it would be more effective to tack the first one on to the end of the first paragraph--which would make for an even stronger ending to that paragraph--and then just forgo the rest of them. To me, they feel superfluous.
The final paragraph ties things up fucking beautifully ; I wasn't sure how you were going to do it, but you did it, and with absolute brilliance. My only issue is that it let me down that you used an ellipsis at the end of the final sentence--it felt like you were pulling back just a bit. You should end it with a strong, self-assured period: commit to that fucker.
All in all, lovely stuff. I'll definitely be checking this thing out and keeping up with your future work.
Cheers.
