Yeah, exactly. Their post-Clayman work (except the always-underrated Come Clarity) has always had some displays of good songwriting, melody, etc. that was able to carry the album away from basic mediocrity. Doesn't mean those albums were anything incredibly special, but you could jam them easily, plenty of good tracks.
Siren Charms was the tipping point for me too. Even though this is a bit better, it still keeps that same direction. Sad, sad band.

I actually believe this is worse than Siren Charms. At least that album had its own vibe, for better or worse.
This album doesn't even have that.

It does have a vibe.
A very, very bad one.

as much as i hate on post-Clayman In Flames, i havent actually hated anything theyve done until Siren Charms. everything before had some redeeming qualities. these last two are just shit in a toilet inside a dumpster fire. [2]
(except the always-underrated Come Clarity) [2]

Come Clarity is right up there with their classics in my mind. It's the best combination of the band's more accessible, increasingly-metalcore leanings during that time and their tried-and-true melodic death metal riffing and songwriting.
Some people dislike it based on the principle that it's not 'true' In Flames, but through this they miss the best post-Clayman album the group recorded without a doubt.
