nah, that song gave Dan Smith some great exposure, that's how I found out about Listener
plus you have Memphis for some Aaron Weiss awesomeness

listener used to play near where I used to live all the time, didn't really appreciate them as more than a novelty act until I moved though
genuinely pretty great band live tho

Listener seems like an awesome band live, hope to see them one day

they used to beat a washing machine onstage for percussion for a song or two, wonder if they still do that
|
| |
Seems like a lot of hassle to bring a washing machine to every show

but they did it tho

The mixing for Listener when I saw them sucked and they were still good because I was two feet away and could hear all the lines.

I got to see Listener open for Norma Jean once about 5 years ago. The washing machine bit was rad. I liked the passion they had. @Artuma & Futures: What constitutes modern? The Chariot were a really good band. One Wing was an excellent last album, but I think Converge, Botch, Dillinger, and the like kill them. Cause indisputable giants in the genre like Converge and Dillinger still make well above average music after The Chariot quit. If we're talking bands that started a lot later on, Seizures and Every Time I Die probably edge out over them, too.

every time i die better than the chariot? lmao and all those bands you listed are first gen metalcore bands
|

Every Time I Die is like b-tier metalcore tbh

So we're disregarding the not as contemporary bands. I'm just saying they're still technically pretty modern. Also, explain why that's "lmao" worthy. I mean, I'd probably say From Parts Unknown or Ex Lives could go head up with anything from The Chariot's discography and be a good deal to a slight bit better, depending on the album. Same story with The Sanity Universal by Seizures, but not as close, imo.

never understood this sites fascination with them

The Sanity Universal is one of my favorite metalcore releases of all time, but The Chariot have put out a few favorite releases of mine and I don't really like ETID at all

Maybe try From Parts Unknown and Ex Lives the whole way through some time, or again if you haven't already? Idk, I think both are great bands worthy of appreciation of any metalcore fan regardless of who anyone thinks is better.

For the nerds out there, here is the actual tornado warning that was used in A Thousand Years a Minute. (Check out the Text Data tab if you're looking for what the automated radio voice read).

@milliondead that's why i said 'in their own way'. one wing is a pretty unique album in metalcore and that alone makes them a serious contender when speaking of 'pinnacles of modern metalcore'. whether you prefer converge and dillinger and whatever is up to you
also etid rule but they have never done anything that would really make them one of the heavyweights
