"Also this guy is totally out of his mind if he doesn't think the story wasn't a clusterfuck story wise."
What
If you mean what I think you do he did say it, yes.

"Starkiller Base was an awful argument. The real problem was the fact it exists. "
But he said that the problem is that it exists ?!
Are you even watching the same video.
Yes he does say how it's impossible for it to exist scientifically but the main argument is that it's totally out of place.

So basically all I took from this video are the very issues I have with this film. Only, I don't think most (IMPORTANT) of these complaints are enough to drag this film down to a level below the prequels at all. Because at this point theres enough flaws through each film to bring them all down to this specific level.

"But he said that the problem is that it exists ?! "
No, he said that theres a bigger problem than the fact it got past the first draft of the script, and that was all this physics shit.
"If you mean what I think you do he did say it, yes."
he said they were missteps, but had solid material, while this film has none.

"Because at this point theres enough flaws through each film to bring them all down to this specific level."
this is just so very wrong , there's nothing you can say that can bring down episode 4,5 or even 6 for that matter to the quality of TFA. I'd argue ROTS is better in so many ways too, but at least there I can accept if people didn't like it.

Sorry, I was out of step with that argument. Its just that look at each film by a story/story basis, theres a significant drop in solidity when you get past episode 5 and possibly 4. But the story wasnt all that the originals were about, there was a lot more in effects, character arcs, and other details that made them feel like fully realized universes and ideas.
The prequels lacked that, having way too many elements and only focusing on a small aspect of them (the politics), so it all just was too much and too convoluted. And this showed in other elements like action, characters, and script.
I feel like Force Awakens, which despite being a modge podge of original trilogy elements, also feels like its own dedicated world with a far more better personality. Maybe due to how limited it is in environment. Maybe im just playing into the familiarity of it being basically the same thing, but my biggest issues with episode 7 are things I cant even consider solid arguments until I see how the next two episodes play out. Since this trilogy is clearly structured to be more episodic than the originals, which were more or less self contained movies of three major plot points loosely connected to a general mainframe of "good vs evil". I dunno.

"also feels like its own dedicated world "
I think that's my problem with it tbh. It doesn't feel Star Wars-y enough, doesn't pay attention to the lore the previous movies had settled.
Oh well, to each their own. Let's at least hope Rogue One will rule.
|
| |
im avoiding rogue one, mostly because its ANOTHER DEATH STAR film, even if it takes place in the original trilogy. I feel like the problems that episode 7 could get away with thanks to execution wont be as easy for a film like that. Judging from the information provided so far.
And honestly I like the tone/world of Force Awakens, like yeah, it blows its all very same-y to the originals but it has a pretty distinct personality that fits in the modern era while still being star wars... something i cant say about the prequels.

Rogue One doesn't strike me as something incredible story wise either, but I really hope that they do something interesting and maybe dark. And for the love of God please don't ruin Vader.

you guys are worried too much about Rogue One.
|

Rogue One will probably be a cool spin-off; I'm not expecting a classic.
|
| |
who said we were expecting classics? i just want a film that is cool and fits in star wars without losing the charisma that allows its flaws to be ignored (like episode 7) and reading up on all the news and seeing the trailers makes it look like a popcorn flick with a star wars paint job.

Episode 7 was really good imo.

Don't plan on seeing Rogue One, even if it does take after my username.

Ep seven was solid af

You know at first viewing I was so hyped and I enjoyed it SO MUCH. I was buzzing. But then what happened was 2 days after I was sitting at home and started really thinking about it and I realized that most of the things in it don't make any fucking sense. So I saw it a second time, this time trying to view it really objectively and when you stop looking at it as a ' Star Wars' movie with Han, Leia, Luke you get a 200$ M Fan service that manages not only to be bad but to fuck with the originals and the entire Star Wars lore.

The Force Awakens was pretty solid for a typical sci-fi film and a solid addition to the saga imo. Beats out the misfires of 1-3 imo.

For me it doesn't beat Episode 3. Simply because Episode 3 is so emotional. Yes it has flaws. It has Lucas dialogue, but it contains some of the BEST scenes in the entire saga. Every scene in TFA has some bullshit that makes it unbelievable/corny like that fight scene with Rey and Kylo or when Rey did these impossible maneuvers with the Falcon. I really really don't know how the hype has gotten so much to people with this movie to be honest.
