yeah, it's just not really up to the standards that the rest of the album sets. pleasant enough melody, and yeah good palate cleanser between those songs

after even more listens i still stand by my criticisms of this album and am stuck somewhere between a 3.5 and a 4 but identikit could break my top 30 radiohead songs.

Ful Stop is my favorite by far on this. I like the CD but I'm not sure.. it seems to meld together too much.

i felt that way in particular about the last 4 tracks yeah. ive gone on about this over and over how sonically the album leaves a lot to be desired. and although all of my criticisms stand, now that my over-enthusiastic expectations have been moderately quelled and I can listen to this without that tinge of bitterness its a much more enjoyable overall listen. I can look beyond the obvious flaws and enjoy it as a very pretty record.

tbh i think Present Tense may be the most forgettable song on the album
its not the worst but its just so inoffensive you can almost forget you are even listening to it

agreed about Present Tense so hard
Glass Eyes, Ful Stop, Tinker Tailor, True Love Waits are da best
|
| |
im not as in love with true love waits as eveyrone else but its good
tinker is just aight
|
| |
still thing that last stretch is pretty dissatisfying but The Numbers has grown on me a lot

the way you guys feel about Present Tense is how I feel about Glass Eyes
I didn't like Present Tense much the first few times I heard it, but there's something hypnotic to it I've come to love and that "In you I'm lost" part is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard

The latter portion is great with Identikit through The Numbers and Present Tense, but Tinker and True Love are among the more pedestrian songs here by my observation. Still great mind you, just not as mind blowing as what precedes it, and not close to my favorites which to date are Daydreaming, Ful Stop, and Glass Eyes.

Ful Stop and Glass Eyes fucking blow everything else away on AMSP
The Number is p good too

Glass Eyes is pretty and shit

Tinker is maybe conceptually the best song for me here, it's like the Y2K paranoia of Kid A combined with Amnesiac's gorgeous acoustic sounds
True Love Waits is probably just the satisfaction of finally hearing it after 21 long years (that song has been around longer than I've been alive) but damn if it isn't one of their most emotional songs

I like albums with blissed-out final stretches, like this and Feels and Remain in Light

not sure if I'd describe any of the last three songs on here as blissed-out tbh
|
| |
definitely not one of their most emotional songs for me
like all i need and videotape exist and those are like 20 000 times more emotional than pretty much anything else ive ever heard ever
the only thing close that comes immediately to mind is Paradise Circus by Massive Attack

Videotape is the one that springs to mind that matches TLW in terms of emotion - maybe Motion Picture Soundtrack too but those three are far above the rest

the last few songs are definitely not blissed-out lyrically, but they are of a similarly subdued nature, not even close to how frenetic Burn the Witch or Ful Stop or even Identikit is
|
| |
dude all i need fucking shits in TLW's mouth, closes it, holds its nostrils closed, forces it to swallow the shit, then shits in its mouth all over again.
