This site is in denial, RATM aren't tagged alt rock but the Eels are? Sput faves like Deftones, RATM, Alice in Chains are more 'alt rock' than half the bands actually tagged 'alt rock' :/
I'll put it in a language all sputters can understand - take your favorite 'core' genre...now imagine they are all thrown into one big genre grouping labeled 'post 2000 whatever-core'. That's yer equivalent to 'alt rock' - would tell you nothing

Ed the only time I notice the genre labels here is when someone attacks another user's pie chart. Once a user gets to over 1000 ratings or so they're completely useless - I've probably rated over 100 hip hop tagged albums, same for metal albums, possibly even prog would get somewhere close...nothing shows up in that pie.
Then someone with 90 metal ratings out of 120 overall ratings says - you have no hip hop in your pie chart, you suck, etc smh

The closest thing to the 'Alternative Rock' tag on this site is 'Metalcore'. Seems like every Djent, Deathcore, and scene band gets that tag, as well as some grind bands too, or just any metal/hardcore band with screams and breakdowns. That doesn't even include bands that are actually real metalcore bands.

I guess some tags are just used everywhere and dominate - I will definitely have at least 200 tags of 'metal' across less than 2000 ratings so you'd expect that to perhaps show up but it doesn't.
Must mean I have close to 1000 'alt rock' tags in the mix considering that hefty 21% slice
