The fist half is so much stronger than the second and that kinda kills the pacing for me. Empire of the Clouds is good but not outstanding. The Legacy-esque riff sounds so uninspired. the "groove" section is sick though and the song wraps up nicely. Probably going to drop this to a 4 but I'll give it another listen before that. If this album was just the first half with Empire, I'd probably keep my rating.

Id be totally cool with this being their last album though. I kinda want one more cause it will inevitably have it's moments, but despite me preferring When The Wild Wind Blows to Empire of the Clouds, this is a great conclusion for a legendary band.

checked a few songs and this sounds alright. one thing bugs me though, is it just youtube or is the production real awful here?

So, I added Iron Maiden's complete discography to Apple Music and spent a week re-listening to them all. I'd have to say that Brave New World through The Book of Souls is my favorite era for them.

Ha ha. So, not so crazy an opinion?

I prefer the tears of a clown doing the dance of death.

Saw this show last monday, the TBOS songs were nice but the highlight was Children of the Damned, in my opinion. Niko wasn't at his best.

Actually as a hardcore Maiden fan, I have to agree with Willie. Give me the anthemic classics of the 80s any day but BNW through to TBOS is my favourite- the more focused song writing, the more emotive and progressive feel of the tunes and the thoughtful approach to the epics too.

Aaaaaand it looks like someone wanted to be the asshole!! No more 666 ratings, peeps. Shoutout to that sad remedy of a human being.
