true, but only by people who don't understand the point of pop is rarely the lyrics

Fantano is always 50/50 for me, he's great for an entry level review on bands from genres I'm not intimately familiar with.



As far as the lyrics, yah there mediocre-to-awful as the usual. Kurt Travis was the only really good lyricist this band has had imo.

nah ant-honey was actually pretty soft on it, i would've given it a light to decent 1
just shows he's a sellout these days as soon as there's a hype album he has to give it a high rating

Fantano makes some points in his review that are worth considering, and it wasn't a bad review by any means, but it's just obviously not his sort of band in any way, shape, or form. There is a staff review for AS that demonstrates the same type of attitude in text form (and made more interesting, imo).



Honestly the lyrics are cringy and cheesy, and that isn't a lot of people's thing. But this band prides itself on being fun and dumb. Sometimes I feel like the lyrics are almost a parody (the song "Demo Team" from Acceptance Speech WAS a parody of modern post-hardcore...sadly rendered ironic by the album's production). And yeah, you can be fun and have good lyrics, Say Anything comes to mind, but sometimes the bad lyrics are part of the fun. I'm not locked into being self-serious with my music, so I can enjoy it, but I know a lot of people can't get past it even if they try, and there's nothing wrong with that.

I like this band and am a sucker for this kind of post-hardcore, but seriously -_- It's good and fun and all, but there are better things to get excited about.
