Love this album, I've learnt 10,000 Days (Prt 2) and The Pot on my bass, Justin Chancellor is a fucking great bassist.

firstly THE POT has one of the best basslines ever written and secondly...

where the hell did you get your information as to the reasons behind the naming of the album? 10000 days between having a stroke and dying seems like a hel of a long time to me. Is there any truth in this or am I the only person that thinks that you may be talking rubbish?

the band themselves told us. and 27 years between a stroke and death isn'r rubbish. The song is clearly talking about his mother. listen to the lyrics before saying stuff like that ( wings for Marie (his mom)) and 10,000 Days [wings pt 2]. yeah, you get my point

Um so yeah Rosetta Stoned is amazing. Maynard's lyrics are hilarious and his delivery is great.

Neoteric, what music do you like then. Don't worry i dont care that you dont like them, but what dont you like about Lateralus? That album, in my opinion, is pure musical genius.

You can all get angry over this to---10000 days is better than Aenima. yea yea, w/e i dont care, i actaully think it is. Dont worry we all love Tool so dont get all emotional on me.

BTW, i just made an account and I dunno how to rate music, but I give 10000 Days 5/5

Oh, and how do you put your personal avatar in? all i can put in is the preselectd ones, all of which blow balls. This Message Edited On 01.04.07

Oh, I also think Rossetta Stoned is a Third Eye killer. Yea I love third eye, trust me I do, "so good to see you" yea yea all good, but E motherfkin T is much much better. For reals, I like Rossetta Stoned better than Third eye. This Message Edited On 01.04.07

Ok ok, one more thing, Viginti Tries (or w/e its called) is bullshit, on their behalf. Most ending songs they have like, opiate, disgustipated, third eye, uhm, that one on Lateralus I cant remember name of, have allota useless noise in them, but they all have something. Not just fkin buzzing and clanking. Maynard, my man, sorry but I didnt find any metaphorical content or hidden "i dont believe in god" (ok yea yea maybe he does w/e but he still blasts the dude--if hes a dude--if hes a he--if its anything---ok enough of that). the only thing that I can think Viginti Tries (HOWEVER YOU SPELL THE LAST WORD) is, is a screwup. They prolly just like, left the recording studio stuff on and some weird Scientology stuff occured and they decided to put it on the record. You lnow, because Scientologists are stupid. For real, they like worship this god named Xenu who took the humans to earth on a Boening 747 with space engines like 250 ppl at a time and it took him like 17million yrs to do it and then he blew em up and stuff like that and now I guess we gotta find our thetans and junk. Ok ok, so Tool is cool and I rule. This Message Edited On 01.04.07

I've just recently got into Tool and I find this album by far the best one. I believe maynards vocals are the strongest he's ever done plus the song '10,000 days' is a melodic masterpiece.

Good review. When I first got this album, I'd have given it the same rating you did, 3.5 . But this album grew on me incredibly. At first I only listened to Vicarious, and gave a few other a listen but didnt really pay attention. Then a couple months later I went back and REALLY listened, and wow. Now Jambi is one of my favorite tool songs ever, and my favorite to play on guitar. The Pot, Right in Two, Intension, Wings part 1 and 2, and even Rosetta Stoned are all amazing.

I love tool for their deep lyrics, and even in songs like Rosetta Stoned while they may not be the greatest vocal wise, but the lyrics are so descriptive and accurate in descrbing someone under the unfluence of LSD or some other hallucinagen, thats what makes the song so great. Some of the lines he says in the song arent to be taken literally, like "god damn.. s*** the bed" isnt literally sh****** the bed, but rather used as a saying for failue.

Tool's music isnt for dumb people. Its so deep that you have to listen a song of theirs a hundred times before you truely grasp the meaning. I listen to their stuff all the time on my Ipod and every now and then a "hey I understand what he's saying now" moment comes across. Thats why I love Tool's music so much, the lyrics are so deep and the music is so good that it keeps you listening for the whole 7+ minutes of each song. This Message Edited On 02.14.07

I wouldn't look THAT far into it....and the whole "sh*t the bed" deal is really defecating a mattress...I think, it was written about a friend's experience at Area 51.

Truly, those who listen to Tool are on a plain of understanding and intellectual thought that we non-Tool guys can never hope to achieve. This Message Edited On 02.14.07

Wow...

Music can be enjoyed by anybody...smart people or idiots (evidenced by Inflames over there).

Tool's music isn't automatically a gateway to a higher understanding, it's MUSIC, just like all others...there's no higher plane of intelligence, just a good time...
