man i love this. it's a riff lovers dream. so many slow chunky riffs that are instantly memorable. i love reign in blood but i do love they went in this more slower direction after because you can't really top the speed of that. really compliments their atmosphere. tom sounds really great as well much more clean and refined. strong performance.
side a of this album is just nuts. t/t and mandatory suicide whew. tapers off a touch, cleanse the soul is decent and the priest cover while really entertaining is so out of place.
also i hear just how influential this was on early metalcore. the groovey mid-tempo riffing especially. you just hear it all over those foundational core albums.
