"not sure how they felt realistic, plot did not seem overly complicated to me nor complicated to the point of pretension"

Again, not the plot, the execution.

"to be honest the only people i have encountered who didn't like the film simply didn't understand it or had a hard time understanding it to the point of it being an unenjoyable experience"

Did you misunderstand everything I said? Simple ideas being presented as complex isn't difficult to understand, it's obnoxious.

the old cliche "you are afraid of what you don't understand"

Another stupid fucking comment.

"learn to critique things without sounding like a 14 year old emotional pubesant potty mouth"

You haven't given a valid critique of my critique. All you've done is misinterpret it, criticize me rather than the critique, plus calling somebody a "noob" for not enjoying the movie is far more pubescent than cursing in said critique.

"how was damon's character half-assed? do you not understand the backstory?"

His inclusion, not the character. Again, misinterpreting my opinions, which are again, opinions.

"do you want half-hour long cut scene to the character growing up in pretty mid-western USA with a alcoholic father or some bullshit? would that make it more "artistic" for you?"

Pointless comment, plus never said it lacked artistic credibility, I only criticized the way Nolan went about it. How can you assume that I didn't understand the movie when you didn't even understand clearly written opinion of said movie?

if you just didn't like the simple explanations of relativity etc well you have to understand the general audience for this movie and their general level of background physics/science knowledge, that being close to zero

if it were left out people would have complained too

there is no real winning formula there

^Okay, that's a fair point, but my problems with the movie stem from aspects outside of the science, which would've never made or broken the film for me personally.

I am kind of in a bad mood today, so sorry about that, but even if people you know didn't like it because they apparently didn't understand it, you can't make that assumption about everybody that didn't enjoy the film, especially when they wrote out most of their criticisms that had more to do with the execution of said film than misunderstanding the content presented.

Yeah plenty of my buddies irl say I think about movies too analytically, which is kind of a blessing and a curse, but it's always nice to see somebody who understands where you're coming from when you kind of go off like that

i thought the film was well done. i did have some issues with it but not to the point where it made me enjoy the movie less.

It kind of is, in the sense that film becomes a source of intellectual and artistic stimulation, which leads to a more enduring form of entertainment imo

The Babadook for example, saw that shit recently and had a blast thinking about all the fine details written into it

point taken, though it is a little annoying to keep clicking the "next" button when the scene ends.

we reconciled and all and agreed to disagree but this "i look at films more analytically than others, it's a blessing a curse" is stupid and implies that only people who don't look at film analytically will have a difference of opinion
